DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING

DEFINITION OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING

The Department of Computer Engineering provides education and conducts research on the structure, development and effective use of computer systems. Computer engineering involves the analysis, design, implementation, testing and development of information systems including computer hardware and software in order to provide solutions to various problems.

The main areas of computer engineering are software, programming, algorithm design, operating systems, computer networks, database design and embedded systems.

MACHINE LEARNING AND ROBOTIC PROGRAMMING

Machine learning includes topics such as computer vision, natural language processing and deep learning. Robotic programming, on the other hand, involves the interpretation of the data that robotic systems receive from the environment with sensors and the applications that make decisions based on this interpretation. With the increasing amount of digital data today, Machine Learning and robotic programming are crucial for many of our current and future applications.  In addition to the theoretical courses taught in our department, our students will have the opportunity to find an effective career with application projects.

WEB AUTOMATION
In today's world, where internet technologies are on the rise, the importance and opportunities offered by web-based software systems are very high.  By learning the basics of web-based software systems, our students will gain the competence to develop web-based software automation systems that will meet the needs of the business world.
WR-3D MODELING AND ANIMATION
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment in which a person can interact with special electronic equipment such as a helmet with a screen or gloves with sensors. Having knowledge and achieving the necessary competence in virtual reality (VR) - 3D modeling and animation, one of the technologies of the future, will add value to our students.

MOBILE PROGRAMMING
In today's world where our mobile phones have turned into small computers, with the advanced mobile programming education we provide in our department, our students will reach the level to upload the mobile applications they will develop to the application markets and make them available.

IMAGE PROCESSING
Most of the visual information around us today is represented and processed digitally. Many fields of study are therefore influenced by digital image processing. Digital image processing techniques are used from our televisions to our cell phones and digital cameras. With the image processing course that our students will take in our department, they will have knowledge about image processing applications.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Artificial Intelligence is a way to transform a computer, a robot or a software into intelligent software and systems that behave like humans by studying how the human brain thinks, how humans learn, decide and work when trying to solve a problem. The artificial intelligence courses offered in our department will add value to our students.

COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEGREE PROGRAM

The Undergraduate Program of the Department of Computer Engineering is a 4-year program consisting of 8 semesters, each of which is worth 30 ECTS and equal to a total of 240 ECTS. The compulsory courses offered in the department are grouped into basic science, engineering and field courses. In addition to the compulsory courses, there are technical and non-technical elective courses in the program. The Minor Program is implemented with our department and different departments of our university, and the Double Major Program is implemented with our department and the Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. Every year, our students benefit from student exchange programs in Europe within the framework of the "Socrates-Erasmus" program and in different universities in Turkey within the framework of the Farabi program.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING

In the Department of Computer Engineering, education and research activities are carried out by 11 faculty members, 1 lecturer and 8 research assistants. For the first time in 2016-2017 academic year, our department has been admitting students with MF4 score. A quota of 60 students was given by YÖK.

COMPUTER ENGINEERING JOB FIELDS

Computer engineers find job opportunities in all kinds of institutions and organizations in the following fields.

1-System analyzer
2- System programmer
3- Application programmer
4- Database administrator
5- Data communication specialist
6- Information processing unit manager
