The Computer Engineering Doctoral Program
is a high-level graduate education program that offers students the opportunity to conduct advanced scientific research, develop innovative solutions to problems in their field, and specialize in academic or industrial areas.
Students wishing to apply to the doctoral program must meet the requirements specified in the university's academic and legal regulations and successfully complete the processes determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Application requirements are published on
the Graduate School's website
before each academic semester. In addition, students enrolled in an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad may apply for lateral transfer if they meet the necessary requirements. Applications are evaluated based on the student's individual qualifications and the degree they are applying for.
The doctoral program aims to equip students with the skills to conduct independent research, analyze scientific problems from a broad perspective, interpret them, and arrive at new syntheses. The doctoral program consists of a total of 21 credits for students accepted with a thesis-based master's degree and at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least seven courses, seminars, specialization courses, proficiency exams, thesis proposals, and thesis work, provided that one academic year is not less than 60 ECTS credits. The doctoral program lasts for eight semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program in which the student is enrolled are offered, regardless of whether the student registers for each semester, and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters, excluding the period spent in scientific preparation for those accepted with a thesis-based master's degree. Students who fail to successfully complete their credit courses within this period or who fail to achieve the minimum GPA determined by the Senate will have their affiliation with the institute terminated.
Students who successfully complete the Computer Engineering Doctoral Program are awarded a Doctorate in Computer Engineering. Along with the diploma, a Diploma Supplement based on the standard model developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO/CEPES is issued. This supplement contains detailed information about the graduation date, diploma number, level and scope of the degree obtained, as well as the university's education and training structure and the national education system. Graduates who successfully complete the program may apply to teaching positions at universities in Turkey and abroad if they meet the necessary qualifications in Computer Engineering or related fields. They may also continue their academic or research-oriented careers by taking positions in research teams at public institutions.
